Happy Thanksgiving weekend, Canadians. My broham is going to be here in a little over an hour, which will be the first time I've seen him since Christmas. He's finally relocated from Halifax to Ottawa, and will be in Toronto once a week to battle it out with banks and other things people who work for the Canadian Government do.

I saw some sluts last night (hi guys) and passed out at the ripe old hour of 11pm.

But before all the sluttiness and perogies and trips to Blockbuster, I got to hang out with a baby lion! A dream totally realized! It of course all began in 1994 when the The Lion King came out... good times.

Anyway! Her name is Layla and she is property of the B.Dot Zoo. When people make fun of Bowmanvillage, I always remind them that he have the first privately owned zoo in Canada (bitches!) but somehow they never care.

A friend of mine used to work there and since some of the mothers don't always want to take care of their babies (for whatever reason) zoo workers take home baby animals to give them 24 supervision. My friend has taken home baby tigers (three at once) and a baby wolf.

She was adorable and sweet. She had just been on an epic walk around the neighbourhood so she came inside and promptly passed out on the living room floor. My mom went out for Sunday breakfast with her BFF (my friends mom) and she was saying how Layla was just wandering around the house this morning, checking things out, leaving epic poops in the backyard, etc.

Anyway, LOOK AT HOW CUTE SHE IS.

It's really hard to wake up before noon when you have absolutely no natural light in your room. I got shafted (despite pulling the big straw) into having the tiny, pink room of the flat which.. is fine for me. I mean, I would rather have some air flow and sunlight but I lived in a basement for long enough to be able to revert easily back into Creature of the Night mode.

Since it's been a good five months since I've had one singular roommate, Roomieface is being retired in favor of ACT 1 (Ashley) and ACT 2 (Alex). It makes sense, since it's both of their initials and Ashley is older. Anyway, moving on.

I'm extremely unemployed and the result has been me sleeping in rather late. I'm going to bring out some more resumes and stuff today after I do my laundry and get some groceries, though. On the 18th I have my interview with 680News for an internship, so wish me luck on that front. I feel like I got it, since when she called she had nothing but good things to say about my (EXTREMELY RUSTY AND OUT OF PRACTICE) writing.

I met up with my all time favourite Italian yesterday. I had to go back to Seneca to get the head of Radio to sign some legal shit for the internship and he met up with me so we could get some lunch/dinner.

It was outrageous being at school again. Walking into the cafeteria and not knowing anybody. The Burli room had been completely gutted and was gone. Signing out audio suites had become computerized. There were MORE audio suites downstairs. It's all really very unfair, haha.

It took some hunting down but eventually Mike and I found Jim. He was teaching a large pack of first semester radio kids, and it was so strange. In some ways they were exactly like my year. They all showed up back at the Ward Beck room at the exact same time, like they were traveling in a big 30-kid pack. Totally what we used to do.

I took an agenda. Those school agendas are the best kind, I don't care what anyone says.

Mike and I had lunch at Blueberry Hill, for old times sake. As usual, his nachos took far too long to make and my poutine was delicious. It was nice to see him. So far, out of the radio kids, I've only seen Hobbs a handful of times. Mike and I talked about... well, depressing things, really.

On the topic if Hobbs: ACT 1 and I went downtown to the Horseshoe Tavern to see his brother's band play on Saturday night. We were feeling cooped up in the apartment and ACT 2 had a couple of friends over, so there was really sort of limited space. Hobbs had called me earlier in the day to tell me about the show and since I'd never seen his brothers band play, I figured why not.

Hobbs gave us some bad directions and we were literally soaked through to the bone by the time we arrived, but we made it in time. His brothers band is called We Are The Take and they actually struck me as something you would enjoy dancing to, [info]anythingtwice. They played VFest this year. They're getting moderately big. I thought they were amazing.

Its nice living on the TTC, not having to be home by 11:30pm because you'll miss the last bus home. I just need a jooooob.

And, because it makes me laugh really hard, a clip from The IT Crowd:

[info]doctor_tony and I went and saw Brand New together for the fourth time last night. As usual, they were awesome. Rach braved the crazy roads to come and get me and we arrived alive, which was pleasant! My ears are still ringing, which is a natural effect to a Brand New show. I don’t care how old it makes me seem, next time we see them I am wearing ear plugs. I’m too old for this shit, I’m over the hill here.

The only bummer of the night for me was that they didn’t play my favourite song (Play Crack The Sky), but I’m over it.

After that I came home and Roomieface, her boyfriend, and I ordered pizza because we’ve been living off of perogies and popcorn and will continue to do so until Monday, when I go home to the parental’s. Tonight my friend Mike’s band is playing a show downtown at the Kathedral so Roomieface and I are heading down there because a bunch of kids from my class are going and its our last hoorah of the semester, which ended for us yesterday.

The roomieface and I went downtown to the Bluma Appel Theatre to see Little Shop of Horrors, and it was terrific. The guy who played Seymour was actually on MADtv for like three years or something, and the woman who played Audrey happened to be on a show my roommate loves called Lexx, so that was cool. I haven’t seen the movie in something like eight years, so I wasn’t really bothered about storyline stuff being the same and just had a good time enjoying the singing and dancing. Everyone was really terrific, I thought.

Audrey 2 (the plant) was probably one of the most impressive parts of the show because he kept eating people, and they had different sizes for him, and it was just cool. In the end it was huge, like six feet tall, and the whole thing was done by one guy in there which was pretty impressive. I didn’t manage to get a good picture because I only had my phone but to get an idea he was this big:

If you are in TO before the 15th of December, you should go see this, its only about twenty bucks.

Randomly, download my two favourite tracks from the move soundtrack: Be A Dentist and Suddenly, Seymour.

On another note, thank God its Friday. Two more weeks of this semester and then one more semester and then moving to Calgary for the summer.

Projekt Revolution: Since we both had to work, Julie and I only made it there in time to see HIM, Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance and Linkin Park. HIM we sort of listened to from afar, as we were wandering around the grounds aimlessly, not interested in sitting down yet. Taking Back Sunday were terrific, as per usual. I really love them live. The drummer and guitarist were both away (due to back troubles and a new baby, respectively) and were replaced by dudes in other bands. Adam talked about how the band had gone to see Justin Timberlake live at the Air Canada Centre the night before (which is true, since their buses were parked outside of Julie's building which is just down the street) and Fred played Human Behavior by Michael Jackson which was just hilarious.

Work: Tomorrow I start my last week of full time work at The Country Club, and while I am beyond excited for school to start again, I'm also going to miss seeing everybody every day. On wednesday about fifteen of us from the Turf Department went bowling, which resulted in a lot of early afternoon drinking and fun.

The Wedding: My cousin Collin got married yesterday, and it was just beautiful. I got to see all of my family (on my Dad's side, at least, though my moms cousin Liz did show up to see her) which was just awesome. Made me wish we saw each other a lot more, though Christmas is just around the corner.... I guess. Pictures are at the Flickr.

Random shiz:
- I'm coming home next weekend! Saturday morning, so (Rachel and Brittany) we should do something Saturday night. Call Patrick, Christina, Amanda, and anyone else!
- I'm addicted to Arrested Development... why was this show canceled?
- I'm reading Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer... the main character really pisses me off. A lot.

Happy birthday tomorrow, Anne!

So its my weekend off, and I spent yesterday afternoon wandering around downtown Toronto by myself. Amazingly enough, I didnt spend any money. I just sort of mosied along, looking in random stores and wasting time until I was supposed to go to Julie and George's place. It really made me miss living in North York, where I could pretty much just hop a bus and be downtown fast and cheap whenever I wanted.

As much as roomieface and I love our job at the golf course and really want to go back next year, we dont think we want to live in this apartment again. We know that any place we move to after this will be a downgrade, because its a really nice place, but living in Vaughan is just too far from anything. She has one more year of school than I do anyway, since I'll be graduating next year and hopefully on my way to a job in the radio biznass.

So last night I went to Julie and Georges for dinner, which was pasta and home made sauce, and delicious. Julie and I went to see Evil Dead: The Musical... again. This was our third time. We love it so much that we are going one last time before it closes in Toronto. I dont even want to think about how much money I spent seeing it this summer. Last nights seats were by far the best we've had, though, as we were right in front of the trap door that the character of Cheryl spends a majority of the show in.

Tuesday is Projekt Revolution and next weekend is my cousin Collin's wedding, which I am excited for because I havent seen that side of my family in far, far too long. I cant wait for school to start, though I'm starting to get stressed just thinking about it.

Ventured out of Vaughan for the night last night to head downtown Toronto to see Evil Dead: The Musical.. and it was pretty much the funniest thing I've seen live, ever. After one viewing it is already up there with the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The place it was showing at (The Diesel Playhouse) is this small place on Blue Jay Way (holla Beatles song), and ugh it was just so good. I had the soundtrack already so I knew all the songs and that made it really fun. As soon as it ended, Julie and I walked out and said 'IM GOING TO SEE THAT AGAIN!' Luckily for us, they extended the run to August 4th. I've already bought tickets for my brother and I to go see it on July 10th.

To all of you Toronto friends, GO SEE IT. I promise you will love it.

Rachel and I went and saw Brand New last night for time #3, and we ran into a kid from high school. My ears are still ringing, but its always worth it. The opening band was amazing, there were like 90 of them! They sang about cute things like bugs and gardens and I don't even know. Oh, Jesse Lacey, you sure can pick 'em.
